GUBA interviews Pureté Nature to get to know more about their work

Congratulations on your nomination for the Business Start Up of the Year Award! How do you feel about it?

We feel very excited and honoured to be nominated. It is a sign that our hard work is being recognised. We know that this is the beginning of a long journey. This nomination gives us extra motivation to fulfil our company objectives and create a legacy for future generations.

Tell us a little about yourself and what you do

Pureté Nature was founded by three young gentlemen. It’s a brand that is dedicated to consistently providing high customer satisfaction by rendering excellent customer service through selling high quality natural products from Africa that enhance our client’s physical appearance and mental relaxation. We bring you products that are safe, non-toxic, and highly effective. We believe in the power of nature to bring these results. We offer bespoke products such as hamper baskets, wedding favours, personalised labelling and packaging for any event or special occasion. Our services include candle & cosmetic-making workshops, enterprise workshops for schools and labels printing.

Why would you say you deserve to win?

We deserve to win because we have managed to reach a position where we are now without any outside help or funding. There is simply just the group of us working and learning everything first-hand with the mindset of never backing down to reach our targets.

Also, we deserve to win because of our corporate social responsibilities, quality, product range, price and the flexible and convenient service we provide. Transparency and honesty about what we do are paramount to earning the consumers trust. As consumers’ awareness about global social issues continues to grow, so does the importance these customers place on CSR when choosing where to shop.

At Pureté Nature, we believe that the corporate world has more power than many realize, and harnessing that power to improve the world can bring together people of all backgrounds, ages, and interests.

We see sustainable manufacturing as a very fundamental part of our business. Things such as making products using less energy and materials, producing less waste, using no hazardous substances as well as products that have greener attributes like the recyclability is another aspect of the company that set us apart from other companies.

Environmental efforts: One primary focus of corporate social responsibility is the environment. Businesses, regardless of size, have a large carbon footprint; we have put plans and procedures in place to reduce footprints. For example, customers who return their old containers get a 15{d92ab3b81278fa32ec35786d86dccf793342d8d7f71beafb1273a3698bd09060} discount off their purchase. We believe in upcycling & recycling. We use recycled bottles to make candles, classes and flower vases. All proceeds from the sales of these products are used to purchase goods that are donated to various charities and orphanages. The packaging for all our boxes is made from recycled cardboard. Sustainability isn’t just important for people and the planet, but is also vital for business success.

Ethical labour practices:  We don’t just treat our producers fairly and ethically. At Pureté Nature we offer more than just a “fair trade”. We support the villages, farmers and their families from whom we source our main ingredients from by donating books, clothes, and various equipment.  As well as aiding those in need, we aim to educate, create, inspire, learn, teach and connect, looking towards a brighter future for all.

Volunteering: Attending volunteer events says a lot about a company’s sincerity. By doing good deeds altruistically, we are able to express our concern for specific issues and support for certain organizations. For example, we volunteered at the Rafiki Village Orphanage, Mephibosheth Training Center in Ghana & Dunraven School in London.

Flexibility & Convenience: Offering clients a wide range of products & services in one setting.

To ‘cut out the middleman’, thus bringing consumer closer to producer and vice-versa. We believe that we can only truly sell a wonderful product well once we know it inside-out and back-to-front. Everything from our relationship with our producers to production, packaging, and selling is be done by our team and our team alone. We wanted everything to be attainable, pure, natural and ethical. This allows us to create high-quality natural products from organic ingredients set at a fair price for our customers.

What motivates you and your work?

The fact that we are making a difference in our own lives and to others motivates us because we are laying down the blueprint and foundation for others to follow. The chance to create my own working environment, set the formality and culture of an organisation are factors that motivates us to run our own company. We are very passionate about improving people’s lives, this can be through the use of our products and services and the jobs we provide that supports people in need. Having the power and flexibility to donate time or money to worthy causes is something all the directors are passionate about. We want to get involved in the community. We want to participate actively in our neighbourhood and region. We want to inspire others and serve as an example for other people to follow their dreams.

What are your thoughts on the GUBA Awards?

GUBA as a whole is an amazing organisation that celebrates, acknowledges and supports Ghanaian-based businesses and individuals in the UK such as ourselves. We think the GUBA Awards provides a platform in recognising Ghanaian achievements in the UK, as well as promoting the national interest of Ghana and the African community. They stand for what we believe in and bring the community together, which is always a beautiful thing.

Are you involved in any other projects?

We coach, sponsor & mentor an under-15 football team (South Bridge FC) in South London. We don’t just focus on the footballing skill & technique; we have regular sessions on the healthy eating & sustainable living with players as well as their parents.

We also have the Imagine That Foundation which supports the villages, farmers and their families from whom we source our main ingredients. In the summer of 2014 Pureté Nature teamed up with a small village in Tamale, Northern Ghana and have continued our working relationship with them ever since. We have been extremely grateful to friends and family for their kind donations of money, food, clothes and books – all of which we have passed on to the people within the village.

We also work with charitable organisations such as 4Change Initiative, Amaya, For Africa based in Ghana & Kin L Project. These are organisations whom we have an extremely close and personal connections with. As well as aiding those in need, they share a relating ethos with ourselves: we aim to educate, create, inspire, learn, teach and connect, looking towards a brighter future for all.
