As the current winner of the Best Animation Film and overall Best Film in the NAFTI Student Film Festival 2015, it is safe to say that Francis Brown is reaping the benefits of his hard work. From a tender age, Francis has always had a passion for stories, his ability to visualize such stories has formed the foundation for his current craft.
Animaxfyb studios is a by-product of his passion for audio visual animation and he uses that to depict the on-going social issues in Ghana and Africa. This talented individual seeks to challenge the psychology of his audience and leaves them pondering on a few issues through his films, and his hits ‘Agorkoli and Beggar’ does just that.
As one of the eight chosen nominees, Francis Brown tells us why he deserves the Artist Extraordinaire Award…..
Congratulations on your nomination for the Artist Extraordinaire Award. How do you feel about your nomination?
I feel ecstatic and overjoyed to be nominated for such a prestigious award. GUBA Awards is representative of successful movement and respectability therefore, it is my honour to be given the opportunity to display my artistry.
Tell us why you deserve the Artist Extraordinaire Award?
I create art to entertain and educate, I base my career in the belief that art should be used as a tool to bring about positive change. Venturing into uncharted territory, my artistry is a reflection of my obligation to Ghanaian people, and the preservation of our culture.
Growing up in an extremely artistic environment, I was raised to understand that every moment is a story, and that art exists without boundaries. Making it a habit to capture these moments on paper, I found myself not only recreating said moments, but also adding my own colors to bring them to life. It didn’t take much for me to realise that I had talent for the visual arts, and that it was worth developing and sharing with the world.
What do you think about the GUBA Awards?
I think that the GUBA Awards is a good platform for artists to be recognized for their hard work and perseverance. To be nominated for such an award asserts that the artist is doing something right, and that people support their movement.
Francis Brown continues to be a force in the animation world. If he deserves the Artist Extraordinaire award, vote for him at http://osikiapp.com/guba/nominees.php
