Osibisa, musical legends that won a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2010 GUBA Awards, are set to re-launch one of its greatest albums ‘Happy Children’ at the Alliance Francaise on Saturday. Arguably one of Ghana’s largest musical bands, Osibisa has had listeners enjoying hits such as ‘Welcome Home, Dance the Body Music, Sunshine Day, The Coffee Song’ and many more since its formation in 1969.
Teddy Osei, the founding member of the group confirmed in an interview that proceeds from the re-launch will go into supporting their Dream Child Foundation which was founded a year ago.
“It is an event to support Dream Children Foundation so that the children, especially African children could have a better life. At the event albums will be sold and the profits will go to the foundation”
The ‘Happy Children’ album is set to have 12 tracks, including the remix of Happy Children, Fire will Burn You and many more.
At the 2010 GUBA Awards ceremony, Osibisa was recognised for their successful popularization of African music to the masses and for making songs that transcend generations. They rightfully deserve their GUBA Lifetime Achievement Award.
